Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Hello!
It is time to learn more about money in this one-time class for 5-9 year olds!
In this class, we will review the basics of coins including their names, features, and values. We will then discuss counting by ones, fives, tens, and twenty-fives to count coins of the same value. Next, we will count mixed change to one dollar. Toward the end of class, students will play a game matching values with different coin combinations.
Throughout class I will be assessing which direction to take instruction. I believe meeting students where they are at academically is so important and it is paramount that learning be engaging, so we will be having fun in class!

Please join me on this journey of counting mixed coins! I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!

*Not necessary to have taken the first class Smart Money: An Intro to the Value of Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, and Quarters as long as student has knowledge of coin identification, values, and some experience counting mixed change.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to tell the value of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, count by 1's, 5's, 10's, and 25's to count coins of the same value, and be able to count and match values of mixed coins.
