Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Hello!
It is time to learn about money in this one-time class for 5-8 year olds!
In this class, we will go over the basics of coins. We will discuss the names of each coin, features of each coin, we will also examine each coin and discuss what we observe about each one. We will talk about how much each coin is worth and we will begin counting by ones, fives, tens, and twenty-fives to count change. Toward the end of class, students will be ready to start counting by ones, fives, and possibly tens, and twenty-fives to count pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
Throughout class I will be assessing which direction to take instruction. I believe meeting students where they are at academically is so important and it is paramount that learning be engaging, so we will be having fun in class!

Please join me on this journey of identifying and counting coins! I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!

Learning Goals

Students will be able to identify pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, tell the value of each coin, and be able to count by ones and fives to count pennies and nickels.

Hello! I'm Teacher Vanessa and I am so excited to teach your child! I hope to help your child meet their highest potential through fun and engaging lessons. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Early Childhood Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I have over ten years of teaching experience. Five of those years were spent teaching English Language Learners in the classroom. It was here that I discovered my passion for teaching ESL students. I have since continued teaching English Language Learners online overseas. Outside of the classroom I enjoy reading, hiking, and chasing my kids around! I am a very energetic, positive, and patient teacher and I look forward to making learning fun and motivating for your child. I hope to see you soon!
