Beginner Level
Children will form a concrete and abstract understanding of numbers 1-10. This will be taught through Montessori materials and teaching methods. The teacher will be introducing the children to numbers 1-10 by using hands-on materials that you will be able to print off at home! The children will be able to manipulate and match the concrete values, to their corresponding abstract values. In the first class, we will review numbers 1-10 and the teacher will begin introducing the lesson using Montessori materials. Children will be able to follow along and participate with their own printable materials that will be sent to you once you sign up. Using the number rods and colored beads, children will be able to count and match the quantity with its corresponding number symbol (ex. 1, 2, etc). Montessori is child led and extremely adaptable. We have made the class size small to ensure that not only are we able to give each child the individual attention that they need but also adapt the class to the child's needs. For example, if the class is understanding the number rods very quickly, we will move on to the colored beads sooner. If by the third class the children have mastered numbers 1-10, we may begin to work on teen numbers. The teacher will move at the pace of the children and adapt each lesson to fit their needs. Please note: All transfers to another time must be done at least 24 hours before. Please ensure that the class time(s) works with your schedule.
Learning Goals
Children will be able to identify and understand numbers 1-10.
