Class Experience

This lesson is a one-time version of a lesson that comes from the longer mythology camp that I offer. If you are interested in multiple classes like this, looking at different animals each day, here is the link to that camp:

▬▬▬▬▬▬ COURSE SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬▬

Take a bite out of our world's history and slither through different cultures as we examine snakes as seen from myths around the world.

In this one-time class, we will delve into serpents of four different cultures. This class will use Aztec, Hindu, Egyptian and Greek mythologies to examine how people from different continents viewed snakes in their customs and traditions. We will discuss how these cultures have echos in our modern day society and how we are still influenced by some of the ideas from these ancient civilizations.

I create my entire teaching schedule based on schedule requests, so if you don't see a time that works for you, please put in a request!

Learning Goals

By the end of this lesson, students will be familiar with snakes through Aztec, Hindu, Egyptian and Greek mythologies. Students will be able to connect some modern thoughts, practices and traditions to the origins found from the mythologies of these cultures.

I have spent 5 years studying various world mythologies via multiple facets; I have traveled all over the world, from Mexico's Chichén Itzá to the Greek Parthenon and many other places in between. I have taken university courses, sat in on lectures from historians and archaeologists, and researched both fact (scholarly articles / research papers) as well as modern day fiction built around the ideas found in myth and cultures from all corners of the globe. I continue to educate myself with modern research, literature and seminars whenever possible, all to further my interest in the stories I have studied from multiple cultures.
