1 hour per week. Optional homework: Students will be given an opportunity to create their own cat-based myth at the end of class, which they can do at home with parents or older siblings.Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 8
Join in on this trip around the world's mythologies, themed around one of our favorite animals- cats. Watch as history unfolds in our class to link our present life with myths of the past. Together we will learn about how different cultures incorporated our household pets into their myths and legends, and see how these stories created some of the things we know or see in today's modern world. We will discuss Greek, Egyptian and Norse mythology as it relates to our feline friends, and talk about how it relates to our current knowledge and culture. I create my entire teaching schedule based on schedule requests, so if you don't see a time that works for you, please put in a request!
Learning Goals
By the end of this lesson, students will be familiar with three types of mythology as related through three, cat-themed stories. Students will be able to make connections with these mythologies by discussing parallels that we have in our modern world and how we can relate back to the ancient myths.

Bachelor's Degree in English from California State University San Bernardino
Hello, and welcome! I am a passionate teacher who loves learning as much as as I do teaching. I have been teaching for the last seven years both online and in person. I have a BA in English; Creative Writing, an MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), a TEFL certificate and a certificate of Teaching Business English. I employ a task-based learning approach in my classrooms, in which I provide authentic topics and tasks that my students can connect with and practice the target objectives under a fun and relatable theme. I believe in an active learning environment which constantly challenges myself and my students to think deeper and reach farther than we have before. With this in mind, I end all of my classes with an optional activity that will allow them to use that material presented in class in tandem with their own thoughts or ideas in an extension assignment.
I love to plan my teaching schedule around your schedule requests, so please don't hesitate to put in a request if you don't see a class at a time you like. I am always happy to make a time that suits you.
