US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Get ready to learn all about vowels! We will first distinguish the letters of the alphabet and sort vowels and consonants. Once we have identified our five vowels, we will begin our learning about each one. We will focus on the short sound that the vowels make, but we will discuss that vowels can make the short "lazy" sound and the long "superhero" sound. I will utilize Katie Garner's Secret Stories to help students connect with the sounds vowels make and to retain the information. We will have fun learning about vowels through dancing and building short vowel words together. We will also brainstorm more words with the short vowels discussed in class and complete the handouts provided. I look forward to a fun and engaging class with your learner!

Hello! I'm Teacher Vanessa and I am so excited to teach your child! I hope to help your child meet their highest potential through fun and engaging lessons. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Early Childhood Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I have over ten years of teaching experience. Five of those years were spent teaching English Language Learners in the classroom. It was here that I discovered my passion for teaching ESL students. I have since continued teaching English Language Learners online overseas. Outside of the classroom I enjoy reading, hiking, and chasing my kids around!
