Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Are you wondering how your 4-7 year old learner is doing on their letters, phonics, and name writing? I can help with that! This class is also a helpful tool if you are considering one-on-one reading tutoring, as it helps the learner, teacher, and family get to know one another and get to know the best skills to begin working on. In this one-time class, your learner will practice letter / sound identification, including upper and lower case, for letters A-Z. They will also practice writing their first name. Part 1: We will begin with an interactive slideshow review of each letter of the alphabet, using movements and pictures of animals and objects that correspond to the letter sounds. We will then practice identifying the letter names using flash cards, with movement cards mixed in to keep it lively and fun! If your learner knows most of the letter names, we will move on to Part 2. If they need more practice on letter names, we will practice these some more before moving on and Part 2 will be shortened.. Part 2: Next, your learner will join in some slideshow game activities to practice identifying, listening for, and saying the sounds of each letter. These games will be most effective If your learner knows their colors. Part 3: To celebrate his/her success with letters, we will use letters as building blocks to build and write your learner's first name. If time allows, We will then use letters to build and write some beginner CVC words and do a phonics listening activity. After class, families will receive written feedback about what their leaner knows and what needs more practice. Learners- Please bring something to write on and something to write with. I look forward to seeing you in class!
