**This class is taught by one of our highly skilled and experienced Little Learners Big League educators.**

In this ongoing beginning reading class, we will see and hear a short story from which students will identify words in our word family. Then we will practice saying sounds together, sounding out words on my screen with the help of picture clues, and playing games to look for pictures and determine which pictures belong in our word family and which ones do not! We will also write missing sounds together to make words on our printout. But do not worry if you are unable to get this worksheet printed out, you can do this activity with us on any sheet of paper (or even write the letters in the air). This class is ideal for learners who are not yet reading but are showing interest and those students who have learned some sounds and possibly some beginning reading skills but need to continue to build a strong foundation for reading.

Because this is an ongoing class, students may jump in at any point and they will not be behind! This class is on an 18-week content cycle, meaning that from the point your child jumps in, they will get 18 weeks of new content and then I will start the content cycle again. Many of my parents let their learners repeat the cycle if more practice is needed to strengthen their reading foundation. Similarly, some parents choose to enroll their child in more than one section per week so their child can learn more than one word family per week-this all depends on your child's learning level and needs. For most learners, one word family per week is just right.

I always try to accommodate transfer requests, but my classes are not on the same lesson each week so please be aware if you request a transfer into another section, that section will most likely not be on the same schedule and there is a chance your child will repeat a lesson.

If you would like this class as a FLEXible schedule option, use this link: https://outschool.com/classes/lets-learn-to-read-blend-and-read-cvc-words-in-word-families-flex-naCkNRxG?usid=Khh0xOrD&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

*I have written and/or created and own the copyrights to all materials including printables, game sheets, stories, and slide shows used in all of my classes.

This class is great for ESL learners as well!
NOTE: Not all sections are on the same schedule, so this schedule may be slightly different depending on which section your learner joins. Your learner can jump in at any time and will have 18 weeks of new content no matter when they join. However, transferring your student to a different section COULD cause your learner to repeat content as, again, not all sections are on the same lesson. At this age and stage of learning to read, repetition is very important so this has never been an issue:)

Hello! I am so happy to tell you a little about Little Learners Big League! This organization comprises teachers who bring decades of experience, education, and genuine care to your learners. We are certified teachers and reading specialists who greatly enjoy teaching our courses that are fun for the students, packed with value, and super engaging! We are kind and encouraging teachers who love celebrating the successes of every learner-big or small! Let's meet the teachers, and then you can keep reading to learn about all the classes we teach and the order in which we recommend them!

MEET THE TEACHERS:

Ms. Mary Ann says, "Hello! I am a certified teacher and the owner of this organization, Little Learners Big League. I come to you with over 20 years of experience as a public school, private school, homeschool, and online teacher! I also spent a decade traveling the U.S. as an educational consultant training teachers in beginning reading skills and classroom management. My husband of 20 years and I have a college-age daughter and a son in elementary school, along with two dogs and a cat. In my spare time, I love to go on long walks while listening to audiobooks and spend time with my husband and children. Outschool has been one of my biggest blessings and I am so grateful for this platform!"

Ms. Anna says, "Hello! I'm Anna Kravanh. I’ve been an educator for over 20 years, with experience as a reading tutor, homeschool teacher, and homeschool mom of four. I have my Associate Degree in Early Education. Since 2020, I’ve been teaching at Outschool, and I love the opportunity it gives me to work with students in a way that truly meets their individual needs. I’m passionate about fostering a love of learning and building confidence in every child. Whether I’m helping a student improve their reading skills or guiding my own kids through homeschooling, my goal is always to create a positive, supportive learning environment. I’m currently working toward my Bachelor’s in Education, which I’ll finish in the summer of 2025. Outside of teaching, I love traveling, spending time at the beach, and, of course, being with my family. Teaching is more than just a career for me – it’s a passion. I’m excited to continue working with students on Outschool and sharing my love for learning with my students!"

Ms. Hutton says, "Hi! My name is Ms. Hutton. I hold a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, providing a strong foundation in both content knowledge and effective teaching strategies. With six years of experience teaching 2nd through 4th-grade students, I have developed a deep understanding of the developmental stages and learning needs of younger learners. Additionally, I have worked with special education students, tailoring lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. My experience in both in-person and virtual tutoring has further enhanced my ability to support students in various learning environments, ensuring all students can succeed!"

Ms. Trisha says, "Hi. I am Trisha! I have had a dream to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl. It all started with me lining up my dolls in my Dad's classroom and teaching them. I graduated with a B.A. in elementary education with endorsements in reading and language arts. I had the opportunity to teach fourth grade and got all of my students at our grade level by the end of the year, so I was asked to teach our Title One reading program. As a reading specialist, I had over 90 percent of my students doubling their reading fluency by the end of the year. I was blessed to help so many kids find the missing puzzle piece they needed to become confident readers who loved reading. I have also taught second grade and I ran an after-school reading program. For the last three years, I have been beyond blessed to stay home with our four girls and homeschool them. It is such a joy to hear them say, "I love reading now, Mom." Or for them to beg me to do school. I believe that learning should be fun and that every student can learn if a teacher takes the time to find the missing puzzle piece. I look forward to helping find that missing piece for your child so they can experience success and a love of learning! Thanks for letting me help make a difference in your child's life and for letting your child brighten my life!"
