 Week 1
Lesson 1
Phonics Blends
My lesson is about understanding how to read words with 22 blended consonant sounds and recognizing compound words . The lesson goal is for students to be able to sound out multiple blend words such as strip, black, crash, chest, within a simple sentence structure. Students will use segmented virtual cards to sound out each word. Students will then use Google slides to practice the blends with other sounds. Followed by a read along using the same words.
Lesson 2
Sight Words
My lesson is about students being able to recognize 2nd grade level sight words. These words are words that cannot be sound out using phonemic awareness. Words like friend, mother, together, sure, wreck. Students will recognize words with virtual word cards, the teacher saying the word, and the student repeating the word. They will then do a word sort on a Google Slide, followed by being able to read the words in a story.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Reading Comprehension
My lesson is about reading stories on an appropriate 2nd grade level with focus on recalling information from the story. Students will do this by listening to the instructor read a story out loud. The instructor will ask guided and comprehension questions as the story is read and call upon students to answer. Students will follow along and then complete a Google slide deck for the characters and match the character to a detail from the story.
Lesson 4
Making Inferences
My lesson is about making inferences using active reading strategies. Students will do this by understanding what an inference is by taking clues from the text and learning how to connect them to their own background knowledge. The teacher will do this by asking questions to guide their thinking through different short familiar fairy tales and stories. Evaluation: Students will read a grade level text on their own without any prompting. They will be evaluated based on words read accurately.

Lesson 6
Balanced Literacy
My lesson is about reinforcing text analysis through group discussion. Students will Be asked about certain concepts where they can take turns listening and speaking as they respond to questions, then reading short text and write about what they heard from others in the group, and what they read.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Vocabulary Power Up!
My lesson is about adding vocabulary words to our 2nd grade word bank from lesson 1 & 2, adding in some 3rd grade leveled reading words as well to increase our reading stamina. Words will come from the official Fry’s sight word 3rd grade list. Then students will do a “Tell Your Own Story” but have to incorporate the blended, sight words, and 3rd grade words into their stories.
Lesson 8
Write with Me
My lesson is about focusing on writing skills for sentence structure. Students will get a set of words for different parts of speech. Nouns, verbs, and prepositional phrases. As students build their sentences they will write them down. Students will then create a short story using the simple sentence formula. Evaluation: Students will use a word bank as a checklist to write a story using the simple sentence formula. Students will attempt a full 5 sentence paragraph.
