This reading comprehension strategies class will empower and strengthen skills for learners from fourth grade through fifth grade. Students who participate in this class will learn essential strategies to identify main ideas and supporting details within a text, strategies for understanding cause-and-effect relationships, theme, mood, and tone allowing them to delve deeper into the meaning and significance of what they read.
Additionally, learners will hone their capacity to recall and retell key events, build their vocabulary through contextual clues, analyze an author's purpose and perspective, compare and contrast ideas, make meaningful inferences, and summarize the core elements of a passage. This multifaceted approach empowers students to become active, critical readers who can navigate a wide range of literary genres with confidence. If you have any questions please message me. My goal is to help each student develop a lifelong love for reading while achieving their academic goals.
My passion is literature. I believe stories make concepts more palpable to children. Stories teach students valuable lessons, empathy, and to see the world from different perspectives.
When I have time, I like to travel, experience different cultures, and learn the history of people and places. I am also an animal lover! I have two dogs, have worked with animal rescues, and fostered cats and dogs for years.
