Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Intermediate Level
In this 1:1 class, we read and discuss captivating books to strengthen learners' reading comprehension skills, vocabulary grammar, and writing. Personalized instruction tailored to meet each student's needs allows learners to progress at their own pace. Literature is invaluable for learners in gaining knowledge and feeling understood. Through universal themes such as family, friendship, loyalty, and empathy, novels help readers connect with others and themselves.
In each session, students will examine literary elements, including plot, characters, setting, point of view, figurative language, and vocabulary affording them a deeper understanding of the novel. If you would like specific skills addressed please let me know before the meeting. To assess comprehension learners may take a Kahoot Quiz. The link will be shared in the chat at the end.

Georgia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
As a licensed teacher for over 30 years, I have had the opportunity to support and engage students with diverse learning needs. I strive to create a positive classroom environment that is both supportive and engaging, where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and participating in discussions. My goal is to help each student develop a lifelong love for reading while achieving their academic goals.
My passion is literature. I believe stories make concepts more palpable to children. Stories teach students valuable lessons, empathy, and to see the world from different perspectives.
When I have time, I like to travel, experience different cultures, and learn the history of people and places. I am also an animal lover! I have two dogs, have worked with animal rescues, and fostered cats and dogs for years.
I hope to see your learner in class!
"There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world, and the love of books is the best of all." ~ Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
