Class Experience

Ongoing 1-on-1 Violin Lessons for students at all levels between the ages of 6 and 14. During the first lesson, we will get to know each other, I will ask you to play any current piece, scales, or etudes you have been working on. If you are a beginner, no worries we will go over some basic skills and violin care. I am a trained Suzuki Teacher, and that will be the main repertoire we will be working on throughout our lessons. That being said, I am always willing to go outside that rep if a student has a piece they would like to learn .

Topics taught will include:
-ear training
-listening
-right and left-hand coordination and independence
-relaxed hand-frame
-posture
-intonation
-musical expression
-proper bow hold
-practice skills
-tone and vibrato development

Parental Guidance
I encourage parents to sit in on the lesson if your child is under 8 or a beginner student to assist them during practice time at home. It is also important that parents learn to tune the students violin, most young violinist cannot tune their own instrument until are older or have more experience playing. It is no problem if you don't know how to tune, I will assist and find videos for you to follow. Trust me it's not that hard when you get the hang of it. Parents Must also apply finger tapes to the violin, when we get to that point I will
Supply List
Materials Needed for First Lesson

-Violin with Bow: My goal as a teacher is to have your student play as comfortably and safely as possible. To do this the violin needs to be the correct size to prevent injury. Here is a video explaining how to measure your child for a violin. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

-Rosin

- 1/4 artist blocking tape (if you dont have this the first lesson it is fine)

- Shoulder rest, I really like the Kun shoulder rests. You can get them at a music store or online. Get the size that corresponds with the size of your child's violin. (look inside the violin should be a sticker that says the size)
Shoulder rests and violins are measured in fractions so a full sized violin is 4/4.
