Homework
1-2 hours per week. Each video will be accompanied by a recommended practice assignment which can be completed using the Soundtrap for Education account provided. Assignments are recommended for the best experience throughout the flex course. I will not be reprimanding learners or withholding videos if they are not completing assignments.Class Experience
🎵 Welcome to our Beginner Music Production Flex Camp! 🎧 Here's what you can expect: 📚 Course Overview: - Age group: 13-18 - Learn the basics of using a DAW (audio software) with Soundtrap - Soundtrap is a user-friendly platform for aspiring music producers 📹 Course Content: - Six videos covering essential music production concepts and tools - Each video has a recommended practice assignment - Practice assignments are optional but provide valuable collaborative opportunities 💻 Soundtrap Student Account: - Learners receive a temporary student account - Complies with COPPA and FERPA laws - Account will be deleted one week after the course ends - Learners should export any desired projects from the education account 📝 Course Topics and Assignments: Part 1: Logging in - Login to your student Soundtrap account using provided credentials Part 2: Basics - Experiment with the software and explore different ways to create sounds Part 3: Loops, tracks, and regions - Find and insert loops into your project - Customize tracks and regions to your liking Part 4: Software instruments and MIDI - Create a MIDI region and make changes to at least one note/event Part 5: Recording with a microphone - Record an audio region using a microphone Part 6: How to export - Learn how to export and save your projects 🎵 Creative Feedback: - Share your project with the instructor for feedback - Feedback may include clarification, guidance, and creative song-writing ideas 🚀 Transferable Skills: - Skills learned in this course can be applied to other professional DAW software programs - Gain a fundamental understanding of music production and expand your creativity 🎶 Start or continue your music producing journey with Alberto! 🎹

A temporary Soundtrap for Education code will be provided in the days approaching the start of camp. Once inside Soundtrap's main website page, you will click on the tab across the top which says "Education" and type in the code. This will ensure your learner is using the format of Soundtrap that complies with COPPA and FERPA. After camp, it will be up to the learner's adults to create a personal account they can use. The learner will have to export any desired projects from the Education account at the end of our last session. Please reach out to me or visit soundtrap.com for more information.
Supply List
Soundtrap runs desktop or laptop computers using a browser or on mobile devices (phones or tablets) through an app. The mobile app excludes some of the available features. For that reason, using a laptop or computer will provide a better experience.
