Homework
All homework/practicing tasks will be self-assigned by the student.
Assessment
The learner will self-assess their performance using the student-generated goals created in class. The teacher will use formative assessment questions throughout in order to help the student determine if he/she/they is growing towards his/her/their desired outcomes.

Class Experience

These private lessons are for any musician seeking to grow in their own way. Whether your learner is a composer, performer, instrumentalist, singer, producer, or any other type of musician, his/her/their own goals and preferences will be the driving force for the learning. The first lesson with each individual student will focus on creating a positive teacher-student relationship and establishing the student's goals. Once the student's desired outcomes are clearly defined and understood by both of us, we will explore practice strategies and come up with a plan that will help achieve those goals. This foundation should be completed by the end of the first lesson. Every subsequent lesson will offer various styles of instruction depending on your learner's progress and goals for that day.

Musicians from all levels (beginner to advanced) are welcome.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to use metacognition (thinking about one's own thinking) to develop their musicianship.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
If I come across a situation where the student's goal consists of learning a song containing sensitive lyrics, I will communicate this to the parent and seek permission to continue before moving forward with that goal.
Supply List
If the learner wishes to practice an instrument, they should have regular access to that instrument.

If the learner wishes to practice recording/producing, they will need to create an account on soundtrap.com. Soundtrap is a recording software that runs on most browsers and has a free version that will suffice for the purposes of this course. It is ok if the learner and parent decide to upgrade to the paid version.

After we have established goals, I will communicate with parents in regards to any additional resources/materials that might be needed.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
