This is an ongoing course of study for middle school-age students interested in music production. Students must have access to a Digital audio workstation such as Logic(apple only), Garage Band (Apple's Free software), or Soundtrap (license required, Windows and Mac); The concepts covered can be used in all programs. This class is an ongoing program. See the production process from start to finish. In addition, audio engineering and music composition will be covered. This class is for you if you have a computer and access to music production software. Example of topics covered: Week 1.3/7/24 Beatmaking and functions of a DAW Week 2. 3/14/24 Step sequencer drum programming Week 3. 3/21/24 Bass lines Week 4. 3/28/24 Chord Progressions Week 5. 4/4/24 Melody writing Week 6 4/11/24 Song form and arranging Week 7 4/18/24 Mixing Week 8 4/25/24 Mastering
Learning Goals
Students will understand how to use a Digital audio workstation to 1. Make beats. 2. Play and program instrumental parts. 3. Create chord progressions.4. Create Melodies. 5. Compose. 6. Arrange. 7. Mix. 8 Master recordings.
