Beginner - Intermediate Level
I love cooking and I plan my meals each week. This class taught by Nita Stone will cover an essential life skill for moving out on your own. We will discuss why and how to plan a menu and make a grocery list. We will learn to read a recipe before starting to cook that recipe. We will cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We will discuss what types of foods we will prepare for each meal. The menus do not have to be assigned a day but the students will learn that they will have everything they need to prepare that menu. No cooking is required for the class but students may want to try new recipes with their parent's permission of course. Students may share ideas, recipes, and photos in the classroom area. Students may want to try a scavenger hunt at home to find different meal items. Students will plan a special event meal together. We will discuss what type of foods we should eat each day as we prepare our menus. Not just main dishes but sides as well. Week 1 - Why plan?
