This course will cover the history of mummification with the help from an interactive slideshow that will provide students will age-appropriate illustrations and descriptions of the mummification process. We will begin class by looking at a brief history of the development of the mummification process, beginning with some of the earliest sand burials, and ending with the 20th century discoveries of mummified remains. After viewing our timeline, we will focus in on the mummification process that was used most predominantly in and around 1,000 BCE. The course will follow this timeline: 3 minutes: Introduction and Rules 15 Minutes: Timeline of Ancient Egypt and Mummification 5 Minutes: Why Were People Mummified? 15 Minutes: How Was a Mummy Created? 5 Minutes: Discovery of Mummies Today 2 Minutes: Wrap Up There will be time for questions and comments throughout the lesson, as the teacher for this course likes to facilitate respectful discussion of historical topics throughout the lesson. The class will include two short videos that will enhance the course content in a manner that is appropriate for young learners.

Parental Guidance
This course does discuss the ritual preservation of deceased individuals in Ancient Egypt. The course will bring the utmost respect to these deceased individuals, as well as their religious and cultural beliefs.
