Description
Class Experience
Our weekly ration cooking class will give students hands on experience in the kitchen, while preparing food items that would have been popular in American home during the second World War. While cooking, we will learn about measuring, baking times, and history. Historical facts about World War II, rationing, and what life was like for families during the 1940's will be sprinkled into our cooking class. At the end of each class, students will have prepared a baked good or food item for...
Students will gain cooking skills, while also learning about World War II
No homework is required, but students will be required to have the necessary ingredients for each week's recipe.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No assessment is administered.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be using an oven, as well as other cooking tools such as knives, whisks, and spatulas. Parental assistance may be needed for cutting and using the oven at some points during the class.
