Class Experience
Are you passionate about the mysteries of the world, both ancient and modern? Do you yearn for unusual and exciting discussions about other cultures? Are you thirsty for knowledge about the past, and the work we do in the present to learn about it? The journey we take is up to you: students could choose books from reliable sources, with topics that focus on anthropology and archaeology. Through careful reading and discussion, students will have an opportunity to learn about different cultures from all over the world, and incorporate humanities such as history, social studies, ethnography, and anthropology, right alongside sciences such as geology, chemistry, medicine, anatomy, and osteology. Likewise, if a book or a mid- to long-term topic analysis doesn't suit your learning style, the teacher will choose an article, video, or podcast from a reputable scholarly source to study. Subjects can be diverse and culturally all-encompassing: what was family life like in the Roman Empire? How did the Ancient Egyptians make mummies? Why was Emperor Qin Shi Huang buried with a terracotta army? Students, with their observations and questions, will get to choose the direction of our research and learning together in a private, one-on-one environment. These discussions offer students a starting point to do their own research and bring their findings to share, or direct research to a long-term project on the topic of their choosing. Since this type of work is ongoing, the option for students to explore ideas for and create a long-term project is available. Students will be able to share their findings and progress and receive feedback and guidance regularly.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a lover of archaeology, anthropology, and adventure since I was very young! My desire to learn about the world and people from different backgrounds led me to a BA in Cultural Anthropology, followed by an MA in Bioarchaeology. My studies and career have given me opportunities to do fieldwork in India, Peru, Egypt, and throughout Central America! My undergraduate and graduate theses are both published throughout accredited scientific journals, and I have also written five history books!
