Now that we can play B-A-G on the recorder, it's time to add some new notes! We will begin to use the right hand to add the notes C-D-E. With these notes, we can now play the songs "Old MacDonald had a Farm," "It's Raining, It's Pouring," and "Skin and Bones." By the end of this course, students will be able to play the first 6 notes on the recorder. During this course we will also learn how to read music notes and rhythms. Learning to read music is a skill that students will take with them throughout their lives. This class is set up as a flex class with four lessons. Students should complete one lesson each week. The lesson will be presented using a Google Slides presentation that includes videos. Some of these videos use the YouTube platform. After each class, students will practice what they have learned. Students will interact with the teacher by creating a video playing the song we have learned using Outschool or the Flip platform. The teacher and other students will be able to see the video. The teacher will comment on the students playing and help them improve their playing. The other students will also be able to comment on each students songs. Students will also be able to test what they have been learning using interactive quizzes about music theory and the recorder. Students will receive a printable workbook to use throughout this course after they enroll. No prior knowledge is required. Students will need their own soprano recorder with Baroque style fingering. Here is a breakdown of each weeks' class: Week 1 (October 3-9):Review B-A-G by playing ""Long Legged Sailor." Learn new note "E." Week 2 (October 10-16): Play "It's Raining." Learn new note "D."
