In this class we will use the music of Hamilton to learn how to read basic rhythms in music. We will use the songs: "My Shot; Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story; Alexander Hamilton; You'll Be Back; The Schuyler Sisters; Wait for It and The Room Where It Happens" in this class. #creative On day one, we will learn about quarter notes and eighth notes while practicing the rhythms in the songs "Who Lives? Who Dies? Who Tells Your Story," "Wait For It," and "The Room Where It Happens." On day two, we will learn half notes, whole notes, dotted rhythms, and rest while practicing "The Shuyler Sisters," and "Alexander Hamilton." On day three, we will practice more complex rhythms such as ties and triplets while practicing "You'll Be Back" and "My Shot." We will put all the songs together and showcase them at the end of this class. Each day, students will have the opportunity to speak and sing the songs from the musical. Students do not need to be familiar with the music. As part of the fee for this class, students will receive their own personal copy of the sheet music. This copy is for your own personal use. It can not be distributed. It does not grant performance rights for the piece. You will receive an electronic version of the sheet music upon enrollment of the course. Once you receive a copy of the sheet music, the cost of the sheet music cannot be refunded ($3). This course is for educational purposes. It is not an official product.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from Southern Utah University
I have been teaching for over 15 years. I graduated from Southern Utah University with my degree in Music Education in 2003. Starting in 2004, I taught private voice and piano lessons to students. In 2014, I began teaching music at a local elementary school.
In my classroom, I have taught singing, rhythm games, recorder, ukulele, music theory and how to write your own song! I love sharing my love of music with my students.
I also enjoy musical theater. I have done several communtiy theater productions. I have been privileged to play the roles of Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast," Jack's Mother in "Into the Woods," Mabel in "The Pirates of Penzance," and Kim in "Bye, Bye BIrdie."
I love to listen to rock and roll on the radio. My favorite music group is The Beatles!
In 2017, I began tutoring ESL students in the basics of English grammar, reading, and conversation. I love working with young people from all around the world.
