Homework
2-4 hours per week. Students are expected to practice outside of class. I will usually ask the child to play the song we are working on a certain amount of times per day as practice. We will also occasionally complete music theory assignments outside of class as homework.Class Experience
Does your child love music? Learning the piano is an excellent way to foster that love in your child! Learning an instrument is one of the best things you can do to increase the power of the brain. Playing the piano is a skill that your child will be grateful for throughout their life. Take piano one-on-one with a teacher with over 15 years of experience from anywhere in the world! This class is appropriate for the beginner through late intermediate student. We will practice fingering technique, become familiar with the parts of the piano, and learn notes on the right and left hand. We will learn to play with good rhythm. We will focus on proper technique and learning music theory throughout the course. This course is designed for children age 6 to 18 years. This course is for the absolute beginner, or for a student with some piano experience. Please let me know if you have any piano experience so that I can recommend the correct level of book for your student. #confidence Due to the learner directed nature of this course, session topics will be dictated weekly based on the needs of the student. Students will need to purchase their own materials for this course. Students will need a piano or full sized keyboard for the class. One or two books are required for the class. These materials will be needed from week to week. The cost of the books is about $10-$25. If your student has no prior piano experience, you will purchase Bastien New Traditions All-In-One Piano Course Level Primer A for ages 6-9. You can purchase Alfred Basic Piano Course Level 1A (Orange Cover) Lesson book and Technique Books if your students is ages 10-14. For ages 15-18 you can purchase the Alfred Basic Piano Library, Complete Level 1 (Silver Cover) Lesson Book and Technique Book. If your student has some piano experience, please consult with the teacher about which level of book to purchase. If you have other piano method books already, please let me know. Due to background noise filtering software in Zoom, I do not recommend using a Chromebook for this course. A laptop or iPad should work but you may need to adjust the audio settings to limit noise filtering. This class will be structured as an one on one course meeting for 25 minutes. There is one class scheduled each week. I recommend selecting the "until I cancel" setting when scheduling class if you would like to keep a consistent meeting time. You are still able to cancel or reschedule classes at your convenience when choosing this setting. If you don't see any open availability on my calendar, please reach out! I look forward to sharing my love of music with your child!
