Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
This class does not meet live. It is a flexible schedule class. This is a 4 week class. The teacher will post weekly content each Monday by 8 a.m. EST. There will be a fun Kahoot interactive quiz for children to take after they finish the material for the week. An interactive board will be set up on Nearpod where students will draw a picture and see other students drawings. The class schedule is as follows. Week One: Caterpillar and Butterfly Students will learn the life cycle of the butterfly via video and slideshow presented by the teacher. A craft will also be demonstrated by the teacher and children can follow along with the video and pause when needed. This video will be posted in the Classroom by 8 a.m. EST each Monday There will be PDF printable coloring pages and activities to go along with the lesson, posted in the Classroom by 8 a.m. EST each Monday A link to an interactive Nearpod board will be posted by 8 a.m. EST in the Classroom. Students will share a drawing and can view and react to other classmate's drawings! A link to a Kahoot quiz will also be posted by 8 a.m. EST each Monday. This is to be accessed after the entire assignment for the week is completed. Week Two: Honeybees Students will learn all about honeybees, how they pollinate plants and make that delicacy we call honey via video and slideshow presented by the teacher. A craft will also be demonstrated by the teacher and children can follow along with the video and pause when needed. Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of the crawly creatures we call bugs. They will learn fun facts, interact with other students on Nearpod, share drawings and get creative making their own craft that follows the bug theme of each week.
Other Details
Supply List
Teacher will supply all links to outside resources. Students will not need a separate account. Students will need these supplies for the weekly craft. Week One: Week One students will need the following craft materials: 1. Colored tissue paper or any colored paper, torn into small pieces 2. Printable found on the classroom page 3. Toilet paper roll 4. Colored paint and paint brushes 5. Glue 6. Scissors 7. One standard size pipe cleaner, any color 8. A hole punch or a pen or pencil to poke holes into the toilet paper roll Week Two Students will need: 1. 1 toilet paper roll 2. Scissors 3. One piece of yellow paper 4. One paper plate, any size 5. Yellow Paint 6. Black Paint 7. Waxed paper 12 x 12 sheet (or any paper if you do not have waxed) 8. Glue Week Three Students will need: 1. 3 egg holding sections of an egg carton, paper or foam carton kept together so you have 3 egg cup sections all together 2. Green paint 3. Paint brushes 4. 3 Green pipe cleaners, standard size, not the very fat ones 5. Black magic marker or googly eyes and glue if you are using googly eyes Week Four Students will need: 1. Printable PDFs from the Classroom 2. Q-tips (one for each paint color) 3. Colorful Paints, at least 3 different colors 4. Scissors For optional second craft students will need 1. A wooden clothespin that pinches open (one for each dragonfly your child would like to make) 2. printable from classroom 3. paints
