This class is designed for students that would benefit from summer learning instruction in the area of reading. The class is individualized and the first session would begin with an assessment to determine reading strengths and weaknesses. The assessment assesses reading, spelling, phonemic awareness and comprehension. After the assessment, an individualized plan will be made for the student. When teaching reading and spelling, Orton Gillingham and Wilson Reading approaches will be used....
Students will improve reading skills over the summer session.
I am a Special Education Teacher with a focus on reading instruction. I have taken courses in Wilson Reading, Seeing Stars and am currently in the process of being a certified Orrton Gillingham instructor.
Optional homework practice will be provided upon request.
Notebook to keep throughout the session
Pre-assessment and Post-assessment data will be provided to parents.
45 minutes per class, and maybe some time outside of class.
