US Grade 3 - 4
This class is Wilson Reading instruction for struggling readers. Wilson was deisnged for student with Dyslexia and reading difficulties. As a structured literacy program based on phonological-coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles, WRS directly and systematically teaches the structure of the English language. The first class will be an assessment and then following classes with be beginning with Book one topics: cvc words, closed syllables. We will focus on the reading and spelling rules of the English language. I will meet your children where they are at and help them soar! This is a summer class and will be for 8 weeks, meeting Monday and Friday. Each Class class is structured as follows: -Letter/ sound review (5 minutes) - Spelling/Reading rule introduction (5 minutes) - Word Reading practice (5 minutes) - Sentence reading Practice (5 minutes) - Spelling practice with the teacher (5 minutes) - Dictation- students write sounds, words, sentences amd phrases (15 minuntes) - Reading Comprehension ( if time allows) -Video breaks will also be included as time allows and dependent on lessons ***Weekly progression will be based on student needs but a general outline is as follows: Week 1 and 2: Assessment, learn about open and closed syllables as well as cvc words and how to tap out words Week 3 and 4: Learn about digraphs, blends and welded sounds Week 5 and 6: Learn about multi-syllable words with closed syllables Week 7 and 8: learn about suffixes, prefixes and basewords I enjoy teaching by getting to know my students, having fun and differentiating instruction. Beginner readers and readers with learning gaps are welcome.
