Learners have to opportunity to develop a fun and useful skill in this 1 time class. Learners will be taught how to thread a needle and use that to sew on a button. Students will be taught through participation and interaction with the teacher and other students. The first few minutes of class will be introductions and assessing students current knowledge and skills in sewing and supply check. Then the teacher will demonstrate the objectives of the class: threading a needle and sewing a button onto a piece of fabric. Students will follow along and learn by doing it themselves.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in basic sewing skills such as threading a needle, adding a button. Also students will have their creativity in sewing sparked!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Students will be working with a sharp object, the sewing needle, so parental guidance may be required.
Supply List
Students will need a universal sewing needle (though almost any kind of needle will work), thread, button, fabric, and a needle threader is handy (can be purchased in a small kit at almost any store, even a dollar store), however the needle threader is not necessary. Students should also have good lighting.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
