Learners will be encouraged to finish any activities that they don't finish in class so that they can share the finished product with me on the next class day. For the third class day connected to photography, learners will need to have a photo ready before class to be able to edit it during class.Class Experience

Grab your favorite notebook and art supplies and get ready for a fun four day crash course in all things creative! This course is meant to expose learners to a variety of creative subjects while stimulating their imaginations. Another goal for this course is to help learners see writing as something fun! We will be experimenting with an array of different creative activities including creative writing, painting, photo editing, script writing, comic strip making, and poetry. Here is the break down for this four day creative camp: Day One: Story Writing Learners will be given a choice of three writing prompts to start their own fictional story. The only limit is their imagination! Adding illustrated art to their story is optional. Day Two: Script Writing We will learn the difference between dialogues and monologues and learn the basics of script writing. We will then write our own! For learners who enjoy acting, they can act out their script at the end of class. Day Three: Photography & Art We will take a look at some photo editing examples and learners will have a chance to edit their own photo in different ways to change the mood and look. After, we will discuss different art mediums such as colored pencils, acrylic paint, watercolor & gouache. Leaners will get to choose from three different creative prompts to inspire their own artwork! (Learners can use whichever art medium they prefer.) Day Four: Comics & Poetry We will discuss the difference between graphic novels and comic strips. Learners will be given a choice of three prompts to inspire their next comic book style story! Learners will then be shown examples of both concrete and acrostic poems and then will choose which type they like best to create their own poem. Because this is a one on one class, feel free to let me know if your learner would like to have more days spent on one of the featured subjects. For example, if your leaner especially likes writing stories but doesn't care for poetry, we can replace the poetry day and use it as a second day for story writing. The beauty of a one on one class is that it can be tailored to fit your learner's creative preferences! Don't see a time convenient for your learner? Feel free to reach out to me with any day/time requests!
Learning Goals
Learners will come to appreciate several different types of creative subjects while being encouraged to transform their ideas into something tangible.

Supply List
Depending on the topic, students will need to bring relevant materials. For example, if the topic is on creative writing or poetry, students will be expected to have access to paper and a pencil (or an electronic device if they prefer writing in a digital format). For art classes, students will need access to either a canvas or paper and some kind of paint (or another medium that they prefer). If the learner prefers to do digital art using an electronic device, this will be accepted too.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been incorporating art into my English classes for over ten years and I love seeing how much more students enjoy class when they get a chance to be creative! I've also written simple plays for elementary school students and have enjoyed helping them to perform them. I currently enjoy story & script writing, photography, painting cards for friends and helping students enjoy writing more. This past year I was asked twice to write and present a poem for special events. I have held creative writing and art workshops over zoom for both young and older people and enjoy writing, painting, acting and all things creative!
