US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 6
Children love reading stories, but what if they had a chance to create their own? In this four day workshop, learners will get a chance to make their very own storybook! Day One: We will learn about characters, setting, and the three act structure. We will then brainstorm and figure out what character will best suit your story's theme. Learners will be able to draw their character, think of a name and flesh out their character. Day Two: Protagonists vs Antagonists: Why does every hero have an enemy? What makes a good villain? We will talk about fleshing out the bad characters and why this is so important. Why are they bad? Did they used to be good? What happened? If your story doesn't have a villain, what is the character's biggest challenge in the story? How will the protagonist overcome it? Day Three: We will discuss plot, themes, and lessons learned from stories. Why does every story need a problem? What problem could your character be having? Why is this problem so bad for your character? We will discuss how there is always one last dark moment towards the end before everything is solved. We will brainstorm to have one last bad thing happen before we solve the story. Day Four: Story endings. We will discuss happy vs sad endings. What kind of ending do you want? Does your protagonist get what they wanted? Is your theme clear to the reader? Is your story able to continue into a second book if you want it to? Note: If your learner enjoys drawing and art, they are encouraged to bring any art supplies to class to illustrate as they write! This will keep the class more interesting for those with an interest in art. However, if a learner doesn't enjoy drawing and prefers to write only, this is completely fine too! Because this is a one on one class, each learner's personal preferences will always be kept in mind. Don't see an available time that is convenient for your leaner? Feel free to reach out to me with a day/time request!
Learning Goals
Learners will have fun practicing their writing skills as they tell a story using words and pictures.

Hello! Thank you for clicking on my page to learn more about my classes that are designed for young creatives in mind!
What I Teach:
I hold various creative workshops covering story writing, poetry, journaling, painting, photography, and language learning through art. These are all topics I am personally very passionate about! You will notice here on Outschool that my classes are all one-on-one. This is so that each class can be tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each learner! (I also do small group classes on request for learners who may want to take the class with their friends/classmates/siblings.)
My Teaching Style:
Very interactive! (No boring hour long lecture/power-point presentation style classes here!) My classes are a mixture of discussion based learning & working on projects in class. Each class is unique to the learner enrolled as it is always tailored to each individual child and their needs or preferences.
My Teaching Background:
I began teaching English internationally in 2010 (specializing in speaking & writing) and I started teaching English and holding "Classes for Creatives" workshops on-line in 2020. I have now taught more than 1,800 on-line hours specializing in both creative workshops and private English lessons (ESL, phonics, essay writing, vocabulary, grammar, etc.). I hold a Bachelor's of Principles and Methods of Language Education as well as a TESOL certificate. I’ve worked at several schools in Asia teaching English to children from 1-19 years of age. I have worked in several kindergartens, training schools and have even worked for myself as a private tutor specializing in pre-school education. I love engaging with the minds of young children as they are eager to learn and absorb new knowledge so quickly! I find it very rewarding to see them grow. I enjoy teaching kids and making things fun and colorful for them (while adding humor and toys in of course!).
I have also really enjoyed teaching teenagers in both a classroom group setting as well as in a private home tutoring setting. I have helped teens to improve their essay writing but my personal favorite subject to teach is creative writing! In addition to writing, I have helped several teenagers prepare for their new life of study abroad. To help them feel prepared for college in a new place, part of my curriculum included confidence building and how to make friends. What I especially appreciate about working with teenagers is how they enjoy expressing themselves and sharing their views on a variety of subjects!
My Goal for Learners:
I strive to encourage all my students to continue thinking outside the box to create a meaningful form of self-expression! I firmly believe each individual has the power to be innovative and it's my goal in teaching to help students find new ways to exercise those artistic muscles while building up more confidence in their own creative thinking ability so that they can give their very best and not hold back in whatever original project they are pursuing.
What I'm Currently Learning:
Yes, teachers should be learners as well and I'm always finding new things to research and try! In 2023 I started cake decorating and I LOVE it! My most recent endeavor as of 2024 is website design and while there has been a definite learning curve for me, I am enjoying the process! (Don't worry, I still cake decorate every week in case you're wondering!)
My Personal Interests:
My absolute favorite subjects to discuss are books, creative writing, art, photography, film, fantasy and anything that is fun and imaginative! I love everything that involves the arts, especially when it conveys a message using metaphors and symbolism.
My favorite classes in high school and college were French, Spanish, English, Creative Writing, Drawing & Painting, Drama/Theatre, Photography and American Cinema- all topics I still love! In my free time, I enjoy hosting monthly book clubs and creative art workshops (sometimes hosted in different languages!), as well as hosting fun tea parties (Alice in Wonderland anyone?). My hobbies are reading and writing novels, script writing and filming, experimenting with gouache, watercolor, and acrylic paint, taking way too many photos (I may or may not have a photography addiction) and writing poetry when inspiration hits (which is usually way past my bedtime)!
Don't tell anyone, but one thing I am utterly terrible at is cooking so you will never find me teaching a cooking class or anywhere near a kitchen! (Unless I'm there for cookies of course!)
I am really looking forward to meeting you! Feel free to message me with any questions or suggestions for classes!
