What's included
Homework
1-2 hours per week. Learners will set independent practice goals to support their learning in the class.Class Experience
Take your strings skills to the next level with four weeks of tips, tricks, and encouragement. Focus on a different technique each week. You'll transform from playing notes to performing music! Learn ways to have fun with skills practice as you improve as a musician. Track your progress and share your success in an encouraging and friendly environment. Each week we'll focus on one new skill to improve your playing and sound. Videos include tutorials, practice tips, and suggested songs that feature the playing technique. Choose to practice the skill with scales or suggested songs. You can also include your new techniques into your own repertoire. Interact with the class by sharing video of your new skills in the Outschool classroom. Choose to share daily practice through private video and messages for teacher feedback. When you feel ready, share your progress with the class! Give feedback and encouragement to each other using the "two stars and one wish" format. Develop reflective practice habits by setting and sharing weekly practice goals. Respond to prompts for planning, tracking, and reflecting on your progress. Notice good habits in your fellow musicians' performances and in your own playing too! Learners will also take part in musical scavenger hunts. Share examples of recordings and videos showcasing the featured skill. Weekly Schedule: Week 1 - March 8 - Two Octave Scales and Shifting to 3rd Position Week 2 - March 15 - Vibrato Week 3 - March 21 - Bow Skills and Dynamics Week 4 - March 29 - Bow Skills and Phrasing This class is perfect for learners with at least one year of strings playing experience. This class works great as a standalone class for advancing musicians. Students who participate in group instruction in school ensembles will benefit from focused practice on important techniques. It's also a great supplement for private lessons and a way to encourage reluctant practicers. Beginners should enroll in my Fundamental Foundations Flex class.
