Intermediate Level
For many people, verb conjugation is one of the hardest parts of learning a new language. Verb conjugation is complicated and can involve many hours of memorization and drill to attain mastery. This class offers students a strong foundation in verb conjugation. In this course, students will be introduced to -er, -ir, and -re verb conjugation patterns in French as well as several irregular verbs that don't follow typical patterns. Students will be provided with verbs and definitions ahead of class and will do best if they memorize the vocabulary before class. However, students are welcome to keep the notes with them during class for reference. We will spend two lessons in each verb type. The first lesson will introduce the conjugation pattern and allow students to practice conjugating with the provided vocabulary, and the second lesson will provide several practice exercises with the same verbs. The last two classes will focus on common irregular verbs. Students will be provided with notes of these irregular conjugations and will focus on five irregular verbs in each of two lessons. In total, students will learn 40 regular verbs and 10 irregular verbs. Students will be most confident in this class if they have a basic foundation in French grammar, including some basic vocabulary and an understanding of French pronouns, gender, basic sentence structure, etc. I will provide support and translation to students as needed.
Learning Goals
Students will gain an understanding of regular French verb conjugation patterns and become familiar with several irregular verbs. Students will learn up to 50 French verbs.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham
I'm an accountant with a teaching background who enjoys learning and strives to foster a love of learning in students through games and interactive learning. I believe students learn best when they are having fun and interacting with the material.
I have always had a passion for learning and have diverse interests. I'm especially passionate about building strong foundations in language and math. I believe confidence in these two areas will give students the tools to learn almost anything they'd like to in life.
As an accountant, I have expertise in mathematics and finance. I'm an Enrolled Agent and believe everyone should be proficient in budgeting and personal finance. I believe a strong foundation in math is important to develop advanced skills with numbers later in life. Likewise, strong grammar and language skills will help students communicate effectively and give them the tools to learn anything they'd like to. I'm also passionate about culture and language and have formally studied nine languages, including studying abroad. I want to share the world with students through language and exploration.
I hope to share my love of learning with each of my students as they explore their personal interests. In doing so, students will become lifelong learners and continue to grow in and out of the classroom.
