Have you ever heard of the summer slide? Studies show students lose over 2 1/2 months of math learning during summer break. This weekly class will help to keep your learner's math skills sharp for the upcoming school year. In this class, we will review key topics and problem areas for students that have completed fourth grade level mathematics in preparation for fifth grade. Each class will consist of a lesson taught via Google slides and lots of opportunities for student practice. When the opportunity arises, I use games to integrate fun with student learning. Students do not need to attend from our first session; they are welcome to join in any week! Content only builds in the sense that math skills build, but each lesson is taught as a "fresh" topic. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham
I'm an accountant with a teaching background who enjoys learning and strives to foster a love of learning in students through games and interactive learning. I believe students learn best when they are having fun and interacting with the material.
I have always had a passion for learning and have diverse interests. I'm especially passionate about building strong foundations in language and math. I believe confidence in these two areas will give students the tools to learn almost anything they'd like to in life.
As an accountant, I have expertise in mathematics and finance. I'm an Enrolled Agent and believe everyone should be proficient in budgeting and personal finance. I believe a strong foundation in math is important to develop advanced skills with numbers later in life. Likewise, strong grammar and language skills will help students communicate effectively and give them the tools to learn anything they'd like to. I'm also passionate about culture and language and have formally studied nine languages, including studying abroad. I want to share the world with students through language and exploration.
I hope to share my love of learning with each of my students as they explore their personal interests. In doing so, students will become lifelong learners and continue to grow in and out of the classroom.
