Class Experience

This class is designed for beginning French students. This class assumes some prior knowledge. Students should have a basic understanding of: greetings, pronouns, conjugation of verbs avoir and être, alphabet, colors, numbers, and basic grammar such as gender of nouns. All of these topics are covered in my Level 1 Beginner's French classes. Students will be provided with additional basic vocabulary and support to begin speaking more independently. This class is a gentle transition between my Level 1 class and my Level 3 class, suited for younger students or students not yet ready for advanced grammar or verb conjugation. This class will focus on developing confidence in speaking simple sentence structures and will often follow a "fill-in-the-blank" format to aide students in using vocabulary. Students will be encouraged but not required to practice speaking French from the first class. In this class, we will cover:

Class 1:Introductions & Greetings (Review)
Class 2: Days of the Week
Class 3: Numbers 1-20, Months of the Year
Class 4: Seasons & Weather
Class 5: Family Members (including Extended Family)
Class 6: Around the House
Class 7: Animals
Class 8: Telling Time, Times of Day

This class will also cover basic grammar concepts:
• negative phrases
• verbs avoir and être
• vowel and vowel combination sounds & pronunciation in French
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in speaking French using simple sentences.
