In this class, students will meet weekly to learn and practice core math concepts for 4th Grade. Over the course of the school year, we will cover all of the math standards for 4th Grade, including: -place value -multiplication of multi-digit numbers using the area model method, expanded multiplication method, and standard algorithm -long division & division using the area model method -word problems -equivalent fractions -comparing fractions -ordering fractions -mixed numbers and irregular fractions -decimals -types of angles -measuring angles -identifying shapes by lines and angles -converting measurements (metric system and customary system) -perimeter -area Students will have multiple opportunities to practice these skills. Each class stands alone and does not require previous knowledge. In this class, students are not required to mute themselves (unless their background noise is very distracting). Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham
I'm an accountant with a teaching background who enjoys learning and strives to foster a love of learning in students through games and interactive learning. I believe students learn best when they are having fun and interacting with the material.
I have always had a passion for learning and have diverse interests. I'm especially passionate about building strong foundations in language and math. I believe confidence in these two areas will give students the tools to learn almost anything they'd like to in life.
As an accountant, I have expertise in mathematics and finance. I'm an Enrolled Agent and believe everyone should be proficient in budgeting and personal finance. I believe a strong foundation in math is important to develop advanced skills with numbers later in life. Likewise, strong grammar and language skills will help students communicate effectively and give them the tools to learn anything they'd like to. I'm also passionate about culture and language and have formally studied nine languages, including studying abroad. I want to share the world with students through language and exploration.
I hope to share my love of learning with each of my students as they explore their personal interests. In doing so, students will become lifelong learners and continue to grow in and out of the classroom.
