Homework
Learners are encouraged to try and fight gravity at home with ADULT supervision and permission.
Assessment
In this class, we will use informal assessment to show mastery of our content. Learner's interaction and use of the vocabulary to summarize and support our observations during the class experiment will be our assessment.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Did you know that gravity is a force that pulls us down? Together in this lesson, learners will learn the basic vocabulary words about force and gravity from our slide presentation. We will briefly review the steps of the scientific process for an experiment. Then, conduct 3 small class experiments to fight gravity.
During my class, I aim to keep learners as active participants. I encourage sharing, questioning, and active total physical response movements to learning. We will explore the world of gravity together with interactive discussion, vocabulary actions and movements, brief note taking of our observations (optional printout), 3 hands on at home experiment during class, and class sharing to summarize. I am hoping that our interactive style will engage and connect learners with our topic of study and each other.

Learning Goals

Learners will learn about force and gravity. Through the steps of the scientific method, conduct a class experiment where we will observe the force needed to fight and combat gravity. Learners will summarize our success or defeat against the force of gravity.

Other Details

Supply List
A one page optional handout for recording our scientific observation will be provided for downloading and printing. Learners can bring a household item to class to fight gravity live in class like: a tissue, cotton ball, or paper napkin.
 2 files available upon enrollment
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
My name is Kristy Craig. I am a certified teacher for Kindergarten through 6th grade. My heart and soul is poured out for children. Teaching them, encouraging them, and having fun together is my teaching mission.

I am a charismatic and bubbly educator. I have made Outschool my full time career. I love helping learners grow, develop, and build their confidence on their education journey in my classes. I love to make class inclusive and meet the needs of each of my learners. My whole heart and passion for teaching are now poured directly into my Outschool classes.

I have the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs of my students while teaching. I believe that all children can learn and I love helping students on their path to learning success. I want to make class time engaging, exciting, and approachable for all students. I want to keep class engaging through the use of kinesthetic movements and gestures (like TPR), songs about our content, fun chants, and using multi-sensory approaches like: visuals, hand motions, at home physical objects to touch.

My credentials include a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. My Reading Endorsement that helps me meet the needs of learners as they grow and develop in the art of reading. Meeting students on their level and having tips and tricks ready to support them. My ESOL Endorsement to support learners of a second language. Offering vocabulary and language support as they assimilate. I have 10 years of certified teaching experience in the public school setting. 10 years in the classroom teaching learners in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Also, two years of experience coaching teachers as the English Language Arts Specialist for my elementary school. In my time as a reading coach, I was able to teach all students and teachers from Kindergarten through 5th grade in reading and writing content standards. I have now been teaching on Outschool for 3 years. Virtual teaching has been an entirely new adventure to my teaching career that I never thought possible. Teaching learners all over the world, is a dream come true!
I love teaching the primary grade Preschool- 2nd grade. The journey of learning to read is accomplished in this time. It is one of the biggest years of transformation your child will experience in their school careers.

When I am not teaching, I am full time mothering. I have two young boys. My husband and I like to keep life active and engaging for our family with time outdoors, dance parties in the living room, and unending laughter that fills our house. I hope that I can have class with you to share some of this spice of life. I know our class time will be unique, engaging, and full of high energy! We will have so much fun learning together it won't feel like brain sweat is even happening!
