Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
In this class, we will dig into the content and instructional practices to prepare our budding scientists for the educational journeys. During class, scientists will explore together through songs, discussions, scavenger hunts, hands on investigations and experiments, visuals, and guided instruction for early learning standards. Our instructional focus will support learners who are excited and enthusiastic about science and working towards a kindergarten level for standards based support. We will work on skills, content, vocabulary, hands on learning, experiments, and standards our scientists will need to begin exploring on their educational journey in early childhood learning.

Each class will follow a general pattern for instruction. Content and experiments will be able to build upon previous lessons and standards, but each class will have a stand alone focus. I love to utilize open conversation and responses during class and students are welcome to stay off of mute (as long as there isn't an excess amount of noise disturbance). I strive to use mute only to help with background noise. Classroom management techniques are used to keep class engaging, respectful, and a kind -uplifting place.

Class Flow:
-Welcome (meet and greet with the teacher)
- Introduction to content, vocabulary, and skill of that day with the visual support of google slides.
- Class content learning, physical movements for memory reinforcement, and discussions with the visual support of google slides.
-Application of content on a foldable, journal entry, notes page, experiment, or hands on learning craft/ activity with the visual support of google slides and step by step instructions.
-Summary and goodbye (with the teacher and class).

Students are able to come an go within the course all year as long as there is an opening for enrollment. Resources and a list of needed materials for the week will be sent out in advanced if there is a printing need for resources (worksheets, foldables, vocabulary cards)

Please know that all experiment and experiences in class are optional. If you learner is unable to complete tasks with adult supervision during class, you can always complete tasks later after class. I strive to make sure all learners are engaged and enjoying class even if they are unable to complete tasks during our live class meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I’m a compassionate and charismatic teacher who loves to teach! I have taught Kindergarten through 5th grade students for the last 14 years. In that time, I have been a general education teacher, in the public schools setting for 10 years. Two of those years, I was a reading specialist. I have been teaching online since February 2020. I have been a full-time Outschool teacher since June 2020. I’m certified to teach Elementary education from Kindergarten to 6th grade. I absolutely love teaching early childhood classes. As a mother of a 4 and 7 year old, we do a lot a hands on science and learning together at home. I am so excited to extend into your scientist's learning journey! I have taught these lessons in the public school setting, Outschool, and with my own children at home. Now, I’m looking forward to sharing this fun class with your wonderful, little scientist!
