This science class will have direct teaching based on third grade Next Generation Science Standards. Our instructional focus will support learners who are working on a second grade and third grade level. We will work on the skills, content, vocabulary, hands on learning, experiments, and standards students will need to master during their third grade academic year in science. Each class will follow a general pattern for instruction. Content and experiments will be able to build upon instruction in class and standard focus, but each class will have a stand alone focus. I love to utilize open conversation and responses during class and students are welcome to stay off of mute (as long as there isn't an excess amount of noise disturbance). I strive to use mute only to help with background noise. Classroom management techniques are used to keep class engaging, respectful, and a kind -uplifting place. Class Flow: -Welcome (meet and greet with the teacher) - Introduction to content, vocabulary, and skill of that day with the visual support of google slides. - Class content learning, physical movements for memory reinforcement, and discussions with the visual support of google slides. -Application of content on a foldable, journal entry, notes page, experiment, or hands on learning craft/ activity with the visual support of google slides and step by step instructions. -Summary and goodbye (with the teacher and class). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🍎New Fall semester to begin August 12, 2024.🍎 🍎Class Framework for 2024- 2025- ⭐️Semester 1 to begin August 12, 2024 ⭐️. 1 week off at Thanksgiving (November 25- 29) Semester 1 ends- December 20 Winter break- December 23- January 3, 2025. Learning Goals
For my standards based approach, I will be supporting the Next Generation Science Standards and Florida Standards for Third Grade. By the end of this course, students will be working towards mastery and independence on the skills linked to standards listed for each week.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Please be aware that we will be using scissors to construct class handouts and experiments. Parents/ adults should supervise students for safety purposes during class.
Supply List
Supplies will vary based on each week and optional aid that students can bring to class. I strive to use as many house hold items as I can for our class experiments. We will be using a journal or handouts often for class. It can be a standard wide rule journal for class notes, gluing in our foldables, and data sheets to be placed in. -scissors -glue -crayons April 21-25 we are making geodes! -You can use 1 cup of epsom salt, 1/2 cup of alum, or 1/4 cup of borax. (I will let you decide which mixture is best for your scientist and the easiest for you to access.) -a jar or bowl -1/2 cup of warm- hot water -spoon -liquid glue -measuring cups for your mixture -food coloring (optional) -1 egg shell real or fake eggshell (halved and washed- it will save so much time if you would crack your egg in half and wash the shell before class. You can use both halves of the shells.) Materials for April 29- May 3: 1/4 cup of warm/ hot water 3-4 tablespoons of salt, epsom salt, or sugar spoon another 1/4 cup of water 1 teaspoon of oil medicine dropper or pipette napkin

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I’m a compassionate and charismatic teacher who loves to teach! I have taught Kindergarten through 5th grade students for the last 14 years. In that time, I have been a general education teacher in the public schools setting for 8 years. I specialized as a reading coach, to my school, for two of those years. I have been teaching online since February 2020. I have been a full-time Outschool teacher for 4 years. I’m certified to teach Elementary education from Kindergarten to 6th grade. I absolutely love teaching and I am so excited to extend into Third Grade to continue with your learner! Now, I’m looking forward to sharing this fun class with your wonderful learner!
