I am hoping that students will make butter again with parent supervision and permission after our lesson. Try adding some herbs into your butter for cooking and bread eating!Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
In our class, we will begin by reviewing sight words student will learn and use during class. Students will learn about farmers and that they care for crops and animals, the home for the animals is the barn, basic farm animals, and some products that these animals help make on a farm. (e.g. cows make milk). We will use visuals on slides during class. We will practice using complete sentences to learn during our lesson. After learning about the farm, students will take on the role of a farmer and create homemade butter in class. During class, I aim to keep students as active participants. I encourage sharing, questioning, and active total physical response (TPR) movements while learning. We will explore farms, their animals, and products with song, movements, some animal noises, and maybe even a dashes around the house to find products made on a farm. Our hands on, optional, butter making is a way for students to share, discuss, and squeal in delight together while learning. I am hoping that our interactive style will engage and connect students with our topic of study and each other.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of farms, animals that live there, and a few products that come from them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
As an elementary school teacher for 10 years, I have seen how hands on learning activates the mind. Students forget that they are 'learning' and can really immerse themselves into the content and lesson. Keeping class active and interactive with songs, chants, animal noises, sentence practice, and butter shaking will help keep your young learner engaged and learning during our lesson and beyond!
