Emotions With the "Inside Out" Characters: Let's Read, Sing, Write & Color

During this one time class, your child will learn about some of their emotions (happy, silly, and sad) with the help of the characters from the Inside Out movie. Please print the pdf file under the welcome comment in the classroom so your child can write and color with us. I will begin the class by singing a Hello song and greeting each student. I will read the first part of the book "Inside Out - Box of Mixed Emotions" (I received permission from the publisher) and teach the students the first verse of a song about our emotions. The students will trace the word happy and I will teach them how to phonetically sound out the letters to pronounce the word. We will then color a face to match the emotion happy. We will do the same procedure for the words silly and sad. The students will have the opportunity to discuss what makes them feel happy, silly, and sad during the lesson. After we have finished learning about these three emotions, we will sing the entire song and I will sing a goodbye song to end the class. You can watch the class description video to get a better idea of what this class will be like. I will be using props, puppets, and stuffed animals to help engage the students. Your child will be encouraged to sing along and answer questions about their emotions during the lesson. Students do not need to know how to write or have prior knowledge of emotions to take this class. I look forward to seeing your child in this class!
