1-2 hours per week. Independent practice outside of class is crucial for student enjoyment and success. I will provide your student with easy step by step videos to practice along with outside of class.Grading
On our finally day of class we will take turns play either solos or duets or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Mastery is shown through your student's ability to preform Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with little to no assistance.Class Experience

Beginner Level
-What will be taught? *Instrument care and safety *Parts of the instrument *Standing rest position, seated rest position, playing position *Note and rhythm reading *Ear training *Finger placement in first position: D major *Bowing and articulation: Pizzicato, arco, detach, legato *Begin learning Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in D Major How will I teach? *Visual and auditory demonstrations *Call and response using games such as messages and the toxic rhythm *Use of website such a musictheory.net, 4four, and rhythm randomizer to reinforce note and rhythm reading. *Videos to play along with and review. *Independent practice will be assigned outside of the lesson.

-Dos and don'ts: Avoid touching the hair of the bow, avoid extreme temperature fluctuations, always place your instrument on a flat even surface if it is being left unattended, etc.

-Painters tape, vinyl tape, racing/automotive tape preferably 1/8-1/4 inch (this will be used as a guide for where to place 1st ,2nd, and 3rd, finger in first position) -Violin with bow, rosin, cleaning cloth, and shoulder rest. -A tuner to help your young musician tune with your guidence/assistance at home. Soundcorset Tuner & Metronome is a free and reliable mobile app that I enjoy using.

I am a classically trained violinist. I have studied the violin for 19 years and received my Bachelor of Music Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. I offer beginner to intermediate lessons for both violin, viola, and cello. I have worked as an Early Childhood Music Educator for El Sistema Colorado and as an Orchestra Director with the Colorado Chamber Outreach Program in the Douglas County School District. As a teacher, I strive to build a safe classroom environment where my students can feel confident in their musical ability and comfortable asking questions.
