Beginner - Advanced Level
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TAKING MULTIPLE CLASSES FROM ME OR HAVE FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS THAT INTERFERE WITH YOUR CHILD PARTICIPATING IN THIS CLASS, PLEASE REACH OUT TO ME!!! In this sweet beginner baking class, we are going to make a variety of yummy treats to share with friends and family! Your child will get to practice clean kitchen skills, accurate measuring, equipment handling, and some learn new recipes to make and share! During the class, learners will get to interact with myself and the other learners. We will discuss various things regarding food such as how different ingredients react with each other, how certain flavors change a dessert, and various ideas regarding what we are making. Throughout this class, we will be developing out skills in cooking, creativity, reading and following written instructions, and basic math skills. Most, if not all, of our treats are made from staple household ingredients such as flour, sugar, vanilla, baking soda, and butter. But, there may be some specific ingredients that will be needed for each treat. These will be listed more specifically in the supplies list each week. Learners will also want to wear an apron or clothes that are ok with getting dirty as baking can get a little messy! All recipes are going to be made using very basic kitchen equipment such as a handheld mixer, whisk, large bowl, and oven and stove safe pans. We will measure out the ingredients during class but if a learner wants to pre measure, that is totally fine! I also want to advise that many of the recipes will include the use of the oven, stovetop, or knife so depending on age and ability, parent supervision may be needed for this class. When attending class, it is going to be essential to join on time as we are going to be getting started right away! Some recipes may take the entire hour while others may take a little bit less time to prepare. If there is extra time, we will discuss how the recipe turned out, what difficulties the students faced, how they could adapt the recipe, and other food related topics. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOUR LEARNER HAS ALL OF THE SUPPLIES LISTED IN THE SUPPLIES LIST! I only put supplies on the list that your child will absolutely need. If they are missing an ingredient, they may not be successful in baking the treat for that session. If you have any questions about substitutions or things of that nature, please reach out to me! It is also important to note that I try to keep the classes to one hour, but depending on how the class is going, it may go a little bit over that time. I hope I get the chance to bake with you! Supplies will change with each week so it is essential to check the supplies list regularly! Weekly Schedule: Week 1 (March 1): Rice Krispie Treats Week 2 (March 8): Edible Cookie Dough Week 3 (March 15): Baked Donuts Week 4 (March 22): Banana Muffins Week 5 (March 29): S'more Bars Week 6 (April 5): Peanut Butter Cups Week 7 (April 12): Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars Week 8 (April 19): Puppy Chow and Pretzel Bites Due to personal and military obligations, my availability changes very quickly so if there is time, I will add more weeks as we move through the class! I will be very proactive in letting students know if there are going to be changes to the schedule!
