Teen actors in this small class will read and discuss a different advanced play each class with other actors! They will have a chance to create dynamic characters using their voices while practicing inflection, emotion, and motivation. Students will not only become more expressive readers, but they will also become more empathetic actors, practice character voices, and build their play knowledge! Plays will be chosen based on the number of students enrolled to ensure that everyone has lines to read. Plays are approximately 50-60 minutes in length and will include a technical discussion of characters, sets, costumes, and blocking from the viewpoint of a director (as time allows). Students will read 20+ lines each and every effort will be made to make sure that students who read less lines one week will be balanced with more lines the following week! ***This class sometimes goes over the allotted time depending on the play and speed of the readers. Proposed lesson plans: Week #1 (4/3-4/9): Read and discuss Lafayette #1 Week #2 (4/10-4/16): Read and discuss Goldilocks on Trial Week #3 (4/17-4/23): Read and discuss Home Shopping Studios Live Week #4 (4/24-4/30): Read and discuss The Enormous Nose
