Observe your environment! Notice behaviors, movements, and the way people walk! Bring your character observations to class each week!Class Experience
Students who are passionate about becoming better actors will learn the steps to acting in and performing self-directing open scenes (AKA AB scenes) through making strong, bold, and interesting choices. They will be assigned a partner to work with in breakout rooms where they will rehearse short interpretive scenes with their partner while the teacher bounces from room to room for guidance (for approximately 15-20 minutes of the class). We then re-group and perform the scenes for each other. Students will receive feedback and redirection! Actors in this class are learning the art of acting through storytelling. Each week is a new scene with new challenges. The goal is to make bold choices and learn to tell dynamic and creative stories using limited words/lines. This class will teach students to become more effective actors and will teach them skills to be better at cold readings in auditions. This performing arts class works for acting students of all levels - from beginners to advanced/professional actors.
Learning Goals
Students will learn open scene acting techniques, directing choices techniques, and cooperation as they will partner with new people each week.
