In this ongoing class, students will learn strategies for writing creatively using picture inspiration.
Class experience
US Grade 4 - 7
Students will improve creative writing skills while having fun in this high-energy, interactive class! They will begin a short story inspired by a picture that can be worked on after class as well. Each class will begin with a verbal warm-up game to get creative juices flowing. Next, students will participate in a short lesson specific to improving a specific aspect of creative writing. Lessons will include instruction in: - Getting ideas for writing - Power of 1st sentences - Choosing...
Students will improve their creative writing skills, especially as it pertains to thinking fast and thinking outside the box so their writing is more creative and dynamic.
Homework Offered
Students should continue to develop their stories each week from what they start in class! Each story has potential to be developed into longer pieces!Assessments Offered
Students will get verbal feedback and suggestions in class and have the option to submit their work to the instructor for additional feedback.Grades Offered
Students will need paper and pencil or pen OR a word processing document or GoogleDrive (GoogleDocs). They will need to copy and paste some of their writing assignment in the chat box for feedback.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
