This Live Group class covers the qualities that make a good friend. Friendship is a part of emotional intelligence and building skills towards the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's own emotions and emotions of others. This group also allows students to socialize with their peers and practice communication skills. **Each week we will have a new topic to discuss as a group related to friendship and add another element to our recipe for a good friend art project. **Students are given a list of "ingredients" and we discuss why these qualities might be important in a friendship. **Students will be asked to decide "measurements" for each quality, leading the group into further discussion on why we may want more humor or someone to be kind. **Students will wrap up the activity with a reflection portion that they can either answer questions by writing their explanations (printed handout) or with an open discussion. The reflection portion of the group allows students to reflect on the emotions of others and identify positive traits about themselves. Students will be asked to share their final recipe and some of the reflection piece if they choose to do so.
