This "Real Talk" class is for learners who are ready to practice more social conversational skills. (Learners do not need to have taken the "Real Talk: Am I In The Zone?" level 1 and 2 classes previously, but if they need support in social awareness, those would also likely be helpful for them!) The teacher will present one topic related to communication, conversation, or language each meeting. Then the learners will have the opportunity to practice these skills with each other, with the teacher prompting and guiding as needed. Games and activities related to that week's topic may also be presented. Each class will only admit a small group of learners in order to maximize the opportunity for interaction. Some weeks will be "conversational weeks" that allow for practice of newly-enriched language/social/communication skills, as well as fun activities. My teaching style is real, warm, engaging, enthusiastic, and empathetic. Since learners excel in different ways, multiple teaching modalities are used, including: lecture, photos, animated .gifs, drawings, text, videos, audio, practice scripts, gestures. Each section of this class may be on different topics, as the sections were not created concurrently. Therefore, I cannot list *exactly* what topic is going to be covered each week, as the topic might differ from section to section. Here is a list of some topics that I've covered in 2023: -Communicating in Stressful Situations **Learner Suggested!!** -Constructive Criticism: How and When to Give It -How to Respond to Feedback and Stay Classy! -How to Participate in Conversations When You Know Little to Nothing About the Topic **Learner Suggested!!** -How to Get Past "Small Talk" and Into Deeper Discussions **Learner Suggested!!** -Pop Culture References: It's an Art -Making Phone Calls -Small Talk and Chit-Chat -Developing Your Own Charismatic Communication Style -Personal Reinvention and Communication's Role In It -The "43:57 Rule" of Conversation
