Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Animals are absolutely amazing creatures who are smart, lovable and make us laugh. What you may not know is that animals have also assisted humans in wars for hundreds and hundreds of years. These animals range from small, yet valiant, birds to large, majestic horses. During this class we will be taking a look at some incredible animals and what they have done to help out during wartime. Some classes will be about specific animals who have gone above and beyond-even winning war medals for their work! Some classes we will take a broader look at a various animal groups and all the jobs they have done. I can't wait to show you all that these astounding animals have done to earn their very own place in history.

Please see below for a list of animals that we will be talking about. If you have questions about which week we are on please send me a message!

Parental Guidance
This class is meant to be a safe space for all learners and focuses on the animals and not the actual wars. However, we will mention war in a general sense. We will be talking about the jobs animals do during war which may not be for every learner. For example: Delivering bandages, messages, boosting morale and why that was needed, pulling certain weapons. Please note that while this class talks about animals in wars we will not be talking in detail about any of the wars in particular. This class will briefly mention specific time periods and which war was going on in regards to the animals we are talking about. No details on why the wars began or statistics about the wars will be mentioned. The only statistics that will be mentioned are in regards to animals. Ex: How many pigeons were thought to have helped in different wars. We will NOT be talking about or sharing any graphic images. There will be images of animals doing their specific duties or jobs, recieving medals, paintings of them. Although this class is meant to be safe and interesting for even the youngest learner some may have issues with certain topics or material and this class may not be for them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taught about many heroic people in the past but this is my first time speaking about their animal counterparts. I am so excited to bring my real life knowledge of animals, psychology and a little bit of history to the classroom. I have worked with animals as a vet tech and know just how special they are to people. I have a a degree in psychology and conflict resolution and know just how important animals are in times of high stress and to calm situations. I also have taught some history classes on Outschool and world history on other platforms.
