Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
Students can follow the latest news. All tailored to their reading level as we read and discuss article from TIME for Kids. TIME for Kids builds the critical reading skills kids need to succeed in the information era. Topics include, but are not limited to sports, community, health, animals, space, weather, finances, music and the arts. Each session covers a different topic.
Students follow online resources provided by the teacher and some addition associated activities, like puzzles. TIME for Kids is a wonderful resource providing enrichment for any curriculum based on real-world content. 
Classes begin with an introduction of the teacher and students
Pre-reading questions will be asked as it is a proven way to increase participation and comprehension

Class Session topics will rotate:
Session One we'll discuss: Community, Animals, Weather, and the Arts (Oct 4-25, 2023)
Session Two we'll discuss: Health, the Environment, STEAM Inventions, and History (Feb 2-23, 2024)
Session Three we'll discuss Sports, the Human Body, Insects, and have an Author study (March 18-21, 2024)
Session Four we'll discuss Financial literacy, Space, Careers, and the Summer Olympics (May 13-16, 2024)

All students are encouraged to read and engage in the discussion where everyone's comments will be respected
Class ends with a summary of the discussion

Learning Goals

Enrich students understanding of real-world topics and to gain comfort engaging in class discussions as well as sharing knowledge of topics already learned

Additionally, I hold a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses.
