Beginner Level
Our tutoring session will be individualized to help learners overcome reading challenges. The Science of Reading areas (letter sounds, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension) along with the 4 E’s (engage, explore, explain, and evaluate) will be used to identify and differentiate reading sessions. Goals and objectives will be defined in our first session. After which, each session will focus on understanding phonics, increasing vocabulary while using background and language knowledge for fluency and comprehension. We may engage in echo reading (I read, you read), think aloud (review of events), and visualization (story drawing) to improve reading skills. Graphic organizers, story mapping and outlines will allow readers to use story vocabulary and share ideas. My goal is to increase confidence and encourage lifelong readers.

This is why I use the 4 E's (engage, explore, explain and evaluate) to help build student's understanding and confidence. I incorporate animation for attention; discussion for relevance; interactive activities to enhance memory and online resources to stimulate language and background knowledge.
