Intermediate Level
The purpose of these sessions is to spark students’ critical thinking skills. The areas of critical thinking are communication, analyzing, problem solving, open-mindedness, and creativity. The session will include Math reasoning analogies, reading riddles, Mind Benders as well as activities that will build thinking skills. Students will have the opportunity to use critical thinking through engagement, exploration, explaining and extending ideas. They will also learn to evaluate and resolve problems. We will have student interaction through games, drawing and discussion. These activities will transfer into Mathematic and Language Arts. Week Theme Topic Week One June, 9 Analytical Thinking Compare and Contrast Week Two June 16 Problem-Solving Riddles and Sequences Week Three June 23 Communication Patterns and Organizing Thoughts Week Four June 30 Open-Minded Analogies Week Five July 7 Creativity Inferences and Conclusions
Learning Goals
Identify Similarities and Differences: Learners will compare and contrast various concepts, enhancing their analytical skills
Understand Sequences: Students will learn to recognize and create sequences, which is crucial for problem-solving in both math and reading comprehension.
