Class Experience

Note taking is a very important skill for teens with ADHD or challenges with executive function and working memory. In this ongoing class students will learn and practice a wide variety of note taking strategies geared toward improving comprehension, working memory, and study skills.

Each session will include a short presentation on a note taking skill, followed by an opportunity for the student to practice the skill of the day. Some sessions will be dedicated to taking notes on lecture material. Students will watch a dynamic slide presentation about a topic which will be high interest and engaging for teen learners. During the presentation, students will practice the note taking strategy for that week. Other sessions will be dedicated taking notes on written material.

Classes will support students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and other learning differences by using simple templates and practical strategies to support comprehension. A note taking guide or PDF of the note taking strategy presentation will also be provided to the learner after each class session. This will give students a reference to refer back to as they use this strategy in other learning contexts.

This class is geared toward learners who struggle with taking notes, writing, or working memory. All teens are welcome but it is ideal for middle schoolers and the early high school years. It's goal is to give learners a foundation to prepare for high school and college success.
